Hi, I’m Rami Guirguis. I live in Raleigh, NC and have lived here my entire life. I am lucky enough to have my career path bring me to Clinical Research. I was trained as a Biomedical Engineer by education and have eventually come to this industry for the same reasons I pursued my major: to help people live longer, happier and healthier lives through innovation and disruptive technology.
I am an avid learner and am intellectually curious about almost everything. I enjoy taking on new challenges and taking things apart to see how they work. I believe in Integrity, character, paying it forward and helping others less fortunate. Some very kind people have certainly looked out for me in the past.
I spent the early part of my career in the field soaking up as much clinical experience as I could. I was fortunate enough to work for some heart rhythm companies where I got to witness first-hand the impact that life sustaining medical devices have on people. I have seen countless people live beyond their time because they had an ICD. You learn very quickly about how precious life is and how you should never take it for granted.
I encountered a similar experience when I came to Clinical Research. A mentor once told me that delaying FDA approval of a drug or device may cost a company millions of dollars in potential sales revenue, but the real cost are the lives of those that died before they could have received treatment. For this reason, speed and quality are of the essence which is why I have focused my career on managing clinical teams as efficiently as possible and trying to be proactive instead of reactive.
Last but not least, I have an amazing family that keeps me busy and happy. As a technology junkie, there is a fair chance you may find me (and my family) perusing through the aisles at Best Buy (R.I.P. Circuit City). My friends and family think I am handy so I like to help them out anytime something breaks. I enjoy movies, working out and having fun with friends.
I love to meet new people so feel free to reach out and say hello!
Rami
